NORTH-EAST OFFERS MOUNTAINS OF APPEAL

Dr Joanne Davey readily admits to two loves – the variety and stimulation of GP life and the natural beauty of Victoria’s north-east.

A Monash University graduate, Joanne spent seven years working in various departments of the Western, Royal Melbourne and Hobart hospitals before moving to Wangaratta in 2009.

From Joanne’s perspective, General Practice offers the best of both worlds. “My hospital emergency work was exciting, but it took me a while to realize that I was most satisfied working in an environment where I could experience variety and also offer patient follow-up,” she said.

“As a GP I can be part of a community and offer continuity of care.”

Joanne also loves living near the Victorian snow fields and enjoys skiing at Mt Stirling and Mt Buller during the winter months.

She has developed a strong network with other registrars who are also undertaking training with Bogong and enjoys catching up with them at peer learning workshops.

Joanne is undertaking both the ACCRM and RACGP pathways and hopes to gain fellowships through both colleges.
